SECRETS AND TROPHIES
As we roll out our Grammy special, chatter invariably continues about the awards process. Recording Academy boss Harvey Mason Jr. has made much of eliminating the very Secret Committees he once said didn’t exist; now, however, all eyes are on The Secret Boardroom, where decisions on noms and wins are said to be finalized by a cabal of 12-15 insiders. Who are they? What are they up to? For all its vaunted transparency, the Academy is keeping a lid on the doings in this obscure chamber. We await the noms for the first indication of the agenda therein.
