In addition to the cinematic fantasia now glamming up your local IMAX screen, Moonage Daydream is the title of another David Bowie-based cultural artifact, namely late, great photographer Mick Rock's book (via publisher Genesis) compiling his abundant portraits of Bowie as Ziggy Stardust, along with the British chameleon's own narration. A new edition of the book marking the 50th anniversary of the Ziggy album and tour has been issued to coincide with the release of Brett Morgen's eye-popping film, and naturally events were mounted at Morrison Hotel Gallery on both coasts to cater to lovers of both the shape-shifting rocker and his shutterbug Boswell.
At the NYC event, erstwhile Mick Rock manager Liz Vap, Elizabeth Gregory Gruen, legendary photographer Bob Gruen and Patti Rock wonder if they've still got glitter in their underwear from that one party in 1972.
