At ASCAP’s In the Mix reception for its writers in L.A., CEO Elizabeth Matthews mentally composes an installment of her ongoing song cycle about the entrees served during the Rhythm & Soul Awards. Meanwhile, the following people tried to look cheerful despite the grim knowledge that they'd be appearing on our website (l-r): ASCAP Director, Rhythm & Soul Jason Reddick, SVP Membership/ASCAP Foundation Executive Director Nicole George-Middleton, producer/writer Kosine, Matthews, Assistant VP, Rhythm & Soul Jonathan “JJ” Jones and Director, Rhythm & Soul J. Marie Jones.
Between them, the writers and producers pictured here are responsible for some of your favorite hits of the past several years, including big records by Lewis Capaldi, Harry Styles, Halsey and Lovelytheband. So it’s understandable that they should wonder why they have to deal with us. Seen thinking there’s probably a heartbreaking song to be written about the experience are (l-r) Phil Plested, Deputy, Boy Matthews, Amy Allen, JBach, Sam DeRosa, Casey Smith and Madison Emiko Love.
