Martin Hall, manager of Wet Leg, Manic Street Preachers and The Script, will be honored at the Artist and Manager Awards in November. Becky Hill is also on the winner’s list.
Hall will be given the lifetime achievement Managers’ Manager Award for his long career. That’s included managing Manic Street Preachers since 1990, as well as his success with The Script, who he co-manages with SJM’s Simon Moran.
This year, Hall has had a successful breakthrough story with Wet Leg, who hit #1 in the U.K. with their debut on Domino in April. The album was Hall’s third chart-topper in 12 months, alongside the Manic’s Ultra Vivid Lament and The Script’s Tales From The Script, both of which were released via Sony.
Annabella Coldrick, Chief Executive of the Music Managers Forum, called Hall’s long-term sucess with his acts “extraordinary.”
“These are very different artists, on vastly different career trajectories, and yet all have entrusted Martin to navigate the business on their behalf. That he has done this so consistently, and over such a lengthy period of time, is the mark of a truly great manager.”
Meanwhile, Hill will be awarded Artist of the Year. The recognition follows the release of her gold-selling debut album on Polydor in 2021, which has shifted over 120k copies. According to the Official Charts Company, Hill has been in the U.K. Top 75 singles chart for 299 weeks, racking up 16 Top 40 hits.
The Artist and Manager Awards will take place on 11/17 at London’s Bloomsbury Big Top.
