The ASCAP Citizen campaign, powered by voter-registration organization HeadCount, will kick off Tuesday on National Voter Registration Day in an effort to nudge the organization's more than 875k members and music fans to vote in this year’s midterm elections. The campaign runs through Election Day, 11/8. Anyone can visit here to register to vote, verify or update their voter-registration status and view their local ballot.
Starting this week, ASCAP will amplify “get out the vote” messaging from Billie Eilish, Kehlani, Meghan Trainor and The Chicks.
"ASCAP Citizen is about empowering the music creators who are shaping our culture to shape the future of our democracy as well," ASCAP CEO Beth Matthews said. "It starts with voting, but our goal is to keep our members engaged in advocacy all year round. Active participation and engagement will help protect the rights of music creators and defend the value of music.”
ASCAP's social-media channels will also feature photos, videos and personal messages about the importance of voting from ASCAP members King Princess, Em Beihold, Shungudzo and more.
