In this fanciful rendering—by brilliant MAD Magazine artist Ed Steckley—major publishing heads and song-management trailblazers encounter a haunted house presided over by a hybrid beast that’s part giant bat, part Alfred. It’s a tribute, of course, to smash Netflix series Stranger Things, which helped drive classic material by Kate Bush and Metallica up the streaming charts. For the likes of Jon Platt, Jody Gerson, Guy Moot, Carianne Marshall, Larry Mestel and Merck Mercuriadis, meanwhile, there’s nothing more terrifying than the prospect of dealing with us for another year.
This image marks the astounding Mr. Steckley’s first-ever cover for us, but the experience of working for HITS has already provided him enough trauma to last a lifetime.
