Warner's Omar Apollo, who about four years ago was among the hottest free agents in the biz, has officially gone viral with "Evergreen," from his debut LP, Ivory.
Boosted by TikTok, the track exploded at DSPs this week, entering Spotify's U.S. Top 200 Monday, becoming the greatest gainer on Tuesday and now percolating just under the Top 50. "Evergreen" is also approaching the Top 50 at Apple Music and growing at Shazam, where it's #45.
At TikTok, fans have been able to relate to Apollo's song of heartbreak, which is particularly piquant at the bridge's crescendo; the clip has generated 120k+ videos on the platform thus far.
On Thursday NPR released Apollo's Tiny Desk appearance, below. And Friday the bilingual Mexican American talent will hit ABC's Good Morning America to perform the scorching-hot track. Expect "Evergreen" to be elevated to premier playlists soon.
News that Warner bosses Tom Corson and Aaron Bay-Schuck are growing pencil-thin mustaches in honor of Omar's burgeoning success could not be confirmed at press time.
