Yonaka’s single “Seize the Power” (Creature) was largely ignored when it was released last year, but this week it’s crushing it on the Shazam Top 100 in the U.S. and U.K.
The U.K. rock act’s newfound audience comes courtesy of an end-credits placement on Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Not only is it the biggest mover in both countries, it's the most Shazammed song in the States and #3 in Blighty.
Another TV success story: a new track from Bishop Briggs, “Lessons of the Fire,” the lead track from the four-song EP accompaniment to Netflix’s Devil in Ohio. Meanwhile, David Guetta & Bebe Rexha’s “I’m Good (Blue)” (Warner) is attracting thumbs without the benefit of a visual element. And 21 Savage’s 2016 release “Dip Dip” (Slaughter Gang) has caught on with the TikTok crowd.
One of the more interesting rides up the Shazam USA Top 100 is a 2002 outing by the hard-rock supergroup Audioslave. Turns out there’s a frenzy for older Tom Cruise titles on the heels of the release of Top Gun: Maverick; one that has caught on is the 2004 film Collateral—which includes a sync of Audioslave's “Shadow on the Sun” (Epic/Interscope). Whad’ya know.
