a-ha’s film True North will be shown in select cinemas worldwide on 9/15, five weeks ahead of the release of their Sony Music album of the same name on 10/21.
The film started as a document of Morten Harket, Paul Waaktaar-Savoy and Magne Furuholmen's recording at a studio location about 60 miles above the Arctic Circle but expanded with a narrative arc, recurring vignettes and the participation of the Norwegian orchestra Arctic Philharmonic
“True North is a letter from a-ha, from the Arctic Circle, a poem from the far north of Norway,” said Furuholmen.
The first single, “I’m In,” is accompanied by a video featuring footage from the film.
Sony Music Entertainment’s Premium Content Division is distributing the Aparent-produced film, which was produced in conjunction with Sony Music Germany, Bodø2024 and Aker Horizons. Trafalgar Releasing is distributing True North theatrically worldwide.
