WHO WAS THAT MASKED MAN?

Masked Records has hit the 1 billion-streams milestone, thanks to the growing footprint of a roster that includes 2KBABY (whose “Old Streets” is nearly platinum), WHOKILLEDXIX (who’ve notched three Top 50 Viral Tracks on Spotify), CMTEN and Nick Bonin.

The label was formed in 2019 by Roger Gengo in a JV with Warner Records. The hip-hop entrepreneur is also the creator of the Masked Gorilla website and the UNMASKED concert series. Masked Gorilla produced Mac Miller’s first video interview and early career video Q&As with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Vince Staples and Childish Gambino, all conducted, filmed and edited by Gengo. Masked Gorilla is credited as the first media outlet to cover Lil Yachty, Lil Peep, $uicideboy$ and YBN Nahmir.

Recently, Gengo, in partnership with Live Nation, put on—and sold out—the first annual Lookout Festival in Los Angeles, headlined by Ski Mask the Slump God and $NOT.
