KOBALT TELLS META TO ZUCK OFF

Kobalt Music has notified clients that it will be pulling its repertoire from Meta's platforms—Instagram and Facebook. Its licensing agreement expired at midnight Saturday, as the two parties failed to renegotiate terms.

HITS obtained Kobalt's full statement, which appears below.

Valued Kobalt Client,

We’re writing this morning to let you know that as of last night at midnight PDT, Kobalt’s license with Meta expired in the United States. Over the course of several months, we’ve worked diligently and in good faith to come to an agreement covering a new license for Kobalt’s repertoire. Unfortunately, fundamental differences remained that we were not able to resolve in your best interests, and as a result Kobalt’s repertoire is in the process of being removed from Meta’s services, including Facebook and Instagram, in the United States.

We’ve always stood for songwriters first, and we’re proud to continue to do so. We remain fully committed to reaching an agreement with Meta. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,
Kobalt Music
