MUSIC ADDS A PRINCIPAL

Sun-Ui Yum, formerly an investor in Raine Group and an adviser to its core music-coverage team, has joined Matt Pincus and LionTree’s MUSIC as a principal.

In the newly created role, Yum will report directly to Pincus, helping identify and negotiate investment opportunities for MUSIC.

“Sun-Ui has a solid background in the creative music business coupled with transaction-tested experience on the financial side,” said Pincus. “He understands that relationships and repertoire drive value in music and has the analytical mind and business discipline to fit them into an investment context. That is an exceedingly rare combination. When I set out to staff MUSIC, Sun-Ui was my first call.”

At Raine Group, Yum worked on such deals as Raine’s investment in SoundCloud and Downtown Music Publishing’s sale to Concord.
