In the U.S.—and all over the world—people fear what the future holds following SCOTUS’ decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Thousands are protesting across the country, condemning the Supreme Court on the streets and on social media.
Companies such as Live Nation and Oak View Group are taking action, creating policies to cover travel expenses for employees who need access to women’s health-care services outside their home state and covering bail expenses for employees arrested for protesting peacefully. LN has also pledged to match Lizzo’s $500k donation to Planned Parenthood, and the Live Nation Women team is working on initiatives to support voter registration and turnout.
Oak View Group stated: “The SCOTUS decision reversed a precedent that impacts countless Americans. Friday, June 24, 2022, is a day that will undoubtedly impact our entire OVG family regardless of sex, gender or location. At OVG, we lead. We hold our work, our venues, our hospitality and our team to a higher standard. As we navigate what the ruling means for women, regardless of your personal views, we encourage everyone to act and lead with empathy and compassion.
“Diversity, equity & inclusion is one of our four OVG core pillars, and that includes providing equitable access to safe health care, including reproductive benefits, to all employees. This ruling will place limitations on a woman’s basic human right to make decisions regarding her own health. OVG’s health benefits will not... We fully support equal access for all women to obtain the care they deem appropriate for themselves.
“We understand this is weighing heavily on so many of you, and we encourage you to seek the emotional and mental-health support available through our benefits plan. We can’t change the decision that was made, but we can lead with empathy, check in on each other, listen, learn and act.”

I’m absolutely terrified that this is where we are - that after so many decades of people fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, today’s decision has stripped us of that. https://t.co/mwK561oxxl

Check on your friends.
Look after each other.
We’re all in this together, and the fight is just beginning.
A truly dark day for America.
Watching a Constitutional right be stripped away is horrific. A woman should have the right to CHOOSE what she wants to do with her own body. End of story.

I have been advocating for abortion, reproductive rights, and bodily integrity for as long as I’ve had a platform and I’m running out of ways to word and frame the severity of the impact that fundamentalism has on our country. 1/2

Let’s be clear: if you believe the government belongs in a woman’s uterus, a gay persons business or marriage, or that racism is okay- THEN PLEASE IN THE NAME OF YOUR LORD NEVER FUCKING LISTEN TO MY MUSIC AGAIN. AND ALSO FUCK RIGHT OFF. We good?

i think it’s really time we come together and limit how old a government official can be. i genuinely don’t think someone should be able to make life changing decisions for an entire country while also being old enough to have dementia

It is truly unfathomable and disheartening to have to try to explain to my 11 year old daughter why we live in a world where women’s rights are disintegrating in front of our eyes.
— Mariah Carey (@MariahCarey) June 24, 2022
the Supreme Court just ended a constitutional right to obtain an abortion, saying it should be left to each state to decide, this is horrible! they just took the right to decide about someone’s own body away! we need to speak out. your body, your choice! #AbortionIsHealthcare
— YUNGBLUD (@yungblud) June 24, 2022
No one, not the government, not politicians, not the Supreme Court should prevent access to abortion, birth control, and contraceptives. People should have the FREEDOM to choose. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/zo67xyzex5

If you’re gonna talk about how divided we are as a nation, you’ll want to mention SCOTUS decisions like this one, handing power to state reps in crazy-ass gerrymandered districts and completely ignoring the will of the majority of US citizens. This is not what the people want.
