Lady Gaga once offered her own take on “Born This Way” (an idea first presented by gay artists in the ’70s, as we note in this issue) and underscored her status as not only a gay icon but a true ally who imbues her diverse audience with a sense of belonging. The Interscope superstar’s latest sortie is “Hold My Hand,” the theme from Top Gun: Maverick (hence the flight suit). She enjoys cruising at an altitude from which we are invisible.
