Kendrick Lamar's pre-album appetizer, "The Heart Part 5," is burning up DSPs after its first day of activity. Accompanied by a shape-shifting video, the track opened at #1 at both Spotify U.S. and YouTube Monday and is Top 10 at Apple Music. It was released Sunday evening.
"The Heart Part 5," co-written and produced by Hallwood's Beach Noise, serves as a vivid reminder of Lamar's next-level artistry. It also reminds us that the Pulitzer Prize winner hasn't released new solo material since 2017. As if the anticipation for Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, arriving Friday via pgLang/TDE/Aftermath/Interscope, weren't high enough, fans are speculating that the project could be a double album.
The closest we've come to employing deepfake technology was using HITS COO Todd Hensley's name to book a table at Craig's. If you haven't done so yet, watch "The Heart Part 5" below.
