We are entering a thicket of superstar releases, and our forecasts for several of these have been updated. Here’s where we think first weeks will land as May enters its second week.
Two absolute blockbusters are due this month, and the numbers for each have been revised northward. Kendrick Lamar’s forthcoming TDE/Interscope set, due Friday (5/13), feels like 350-400k, while we’re expecting Columbia’s Harry Styles, who’ll drop on 5/20, to bow in the 400-450k range.
Charting this week are Generation Now/Atlantic’s Jack Harlow (160-180k) and Rimas’ Bad Bunny; our initial forecast for the latter was in the 125-150k range, but this scalding-hot global star is leaving those guesstimates in the dust as his release week unfolds.
Post Malone’s first set on Mercury/Republic is slated for 6/3, with our first thoughts putting it at 250-275k in its first frame. 6/24 brings a fresh album from River House/Columbia Nashville superstar Luke Combs; we're predicting 150-175k.
What else is coming and how much will it do? We’ll keep you posted.
