UMe is first out of the gate to celebrate The Beach Boys’ 60th anniversary, starting 6/17 with a newly remastered and expanded edition of Sounds of Summer: The Very Best of the Beach Boys.
Sounds of Summer will be available in a variety of formats, including a six-LP Super Deluxe Edition box and a three-CD set.
This fall, Capitol/UMe will release an expanded version of 1972’s Carl and the Passions – “So Tough” and 1973’s Holland. The multidisc set follows last year’s Feel Flows – The Sunflower and Surf's Up Sessions 1969-1971.
“An indelible and important part of America’s cultural fabric, the Beach Boys' timeless music has been a ubiquitous soundtrack for generations and continues to influence, inspire and delight,” said UMe President & CEO Bruce Resnikoff. “We at UMe remain honored to further their legendary catalog and look forward to celebrating them all year long along with their millions of fans around the world.”
The Beach Boys, whose IP is in the hands of Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists Group, are also participating in a feature-length documentary, a tribute special, exhibitions and events and brand partnerships to celebrate their 60th anniversary. We hear Irving is honing his theremin skills for future tours.
