U.K. MIDWEEKS: FONTAINES FLY TO #1

Fontaines D.C. are on their way to their first U.K. #1 album, Harry Styles is aiming for a monthlong stay atop the Official Singles Chart and Record Store Day’s impact is being seen in the Top 30.

Skinty Fia (Partisan) from the Dublin-born FDC has outsold its closest competition 4:1, with physical sales accounting for more than 90% of its midweek tally. The band’s previous peak was 2020’s A Hero’s Death.

Spiritualized’s ninth studio album, Everything Was Beautiful (Fat Possum), is #2 midweek, with the reissue of Brian May’s 1998 solo album, Another World (Virgin), close behind at #3.

Stone Broken’s third studio record, Revelation (Spinefarm), is #5, Bob Vylan’s Bob Vylan Presents: The Price of Life (Ghost Theatre) is #6 and Pusha T’s It’s Almost Dry (0207) is looking at #7.

The impact of Record Store Day is seen at #9 with The StreetsOriginal Pirate Material (Locked On), which received a limited-edition vinyl release, while the EP version of David Bowie’s Toy (Parlophone) is #10. Other RSD releases looking at Top 40 debuts on Friday include Childish Gambino’s 2014 mixtape Kauai (Glassnote), Blur’s 1998 album Bustin’ + Dronin’ (Parlophone), T-Rex’s The Slider (Demon), Bowie’s Brilliant Adventure (Parlophone) and Slipknot’s self-titled 1999 Roadrunner debut.

On the singles chart, Styles’ As It Was” (Columbia) has a good shot at a fourth week at #1, while new peaks appear in store for Cat Burns’ “Go (Since 93/RCA) at #3 and Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran’s “Bam Bam” (Epic) at #7.

London rapper Potter Payper could secure his first U.K. Top 10 single this week as “Gangsteritus(Def Jam) rises 30 slots to #10. Taylor Swift’s Record Store Day 7-inch vinyl release of “The Lakes is targeting #11.
