COACHELLA’S HEAD COACH: PAUL TOLLETT

With the sold-out, hugely anticipated desert confab Coachella less than two weeks away—after two years of pandemic-driven postponements—Goldenvoice head and festival ringleader Paul Tollett and team had to pivot when erstwhile headliner Ye abruptly backed out (in fact, he was the fourth headliner to bow out, following Rage Against the Machine, Frank Ocean and Travis Scott). But they swiftly arrived at an elegant solution: Swedish House Mafia was moved to the Sunday spot—with superstar The Weeknd added as a special guest. With Harry Styles and Billie Eilish as the other headliners, the top of the bill boasts a hearty helping of star power. And for Tollett, the baking desert heat will be a refreshing break from the HITS spotlight.
