DOLLY WANTS OFF ROCK HALL BALLOT

Dolly Parton has asked, via Instagram, to be removed from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ballot, saying, “I don’t feel I have that right.”

In an interview with HITS’ Holly Gleason, Parton admitted to being dumbfounded as to why she was nominated. “I have been called a lot of things in my life, but a rockin’ roller has never been one of them. I have to be totally honest, I have no idea [why I was nominated]. It is incredibly flattering, though. And I assume that it relates to some of my crossover hits.”

While her influence on popular music is widespread, Parton says she’s never made a rock ’n’ roll record but leaves open the possibility of doing so in the future, explaining on Instagram, “My husband is a total rock ’n’ roll freak and has always encouraged me to do one.”

Who wouldn’t want to hear that record?
