SPOTIFY CELEBRATES WOMEN VIA PLAYLISTS

Spotify is celebrating International Women’s Day by sharing the music and stories of women creators, artists and activists around the world.

The streaming platform’s starting point is With Love, a podcast playlist series created in partnership with social impact agency Invisible Hand and production support by Pod People. With Love honors 24 women who share “love letters” to their past selves or to someone who changed their lives. There are three playlists: for artists, storytellers and changemakers.

Artists such as Fefe Dobson and Pyra, songwriters Jennifer Decilveo and Kuinvi, creators Munroe Bergdorf and Rintik Sedu and activists Dominique Morgan and Lauren Wasser share their stories in the collection playlists.

Spotify is also highlighting and donating to nonprofits focused on gender equity by amplifying each organization's own curated playlist. Participating do-gooder groups include:

  • The Okra Project: Addressing the crises facing Black trans women, its playlist features Beyoncé, Ciara and Whitney Houston.
  • Vital Voices: Uplifting women leaders; Lady Gaga, Chaka Khan, Adele and Diana Ross
  • Women in Music: Advancing equity for women in the audio space; Flo Milli, Tierra Whack, Amber Mark, Chlöe and Justine Skye
  • Casa 1: Providing shelter to LGBTQ+ people expelled from their homes; MULAMBA, Liniker, Zélia Duncan and Letrux

In addition to these playlists, listeners can find new music by women on the Spot's EQUAL.
