U.K. CHARTS: A FIRST FOR TURNER

Frank Turner has claimed his first #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with his ninth studio album, FTHC (Polydor). Over on singles, Encanto holds the top spot for a fifth week.

FTHC hit the top with almost 90% physical sales. The set betters Turner's previous peak of #3, achieved with No Man’s Land in 2019.

alt-J’s The Dream (Infectious Music) is also new at #3 today, followed by Slash and Myles Kennedy’s 4 (BMG), at #5.

James Morrison’s Greatest Hits (Believe) charts at #6, and Eminem jumps to #8 with Curtain Call: The Hits (Interscope) following his Super Bowl Halftime Show appearance.

Big Thief’s Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You (4AD) is new at #15, while Viola Beach’s posthumous self-titled debut on Fuller Beans re-enters the chart at #23 following its vinyl release.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Encanto’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” (Walt Disney) extends its lead as the longest-running #1 of the year so far. At the same time, the film’s soundtrack claims the title of best-selling album of 2022 to date, with combined chart sales of 93k.

Tracks from the set have been streamed 180m times in the U.K. and another two feature in today’s singles Top 10: “Surface Pressure” at #2 and “The Family Madrigal” at #8.

Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift’s “The Joker and the Queen” (Atlantic) is this week’s highest new entry, at #2, following their performance of the song at the BRIT Awards 2/8.

Several other tracks performed at the ceremony also experience gains: Sam Fender’s “Seventeen Going Under” (Polydor) rises one to #6 and Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” is up to #18. Adele’s “I Drink Wine” (Columbia) is this week’s highest climber, vaulting 52 places to #23.

Elsewhere, “Make Me Feel Good” (Polydor) by Belters Only and Jazzy reaches a new peak at #7, and D-Block Europe and Central Cee rebound to #9 with “Overseas” (Virgin).

Outside the Top 10, U.S. singer/actor Dove Cameron claims her first U.K. Top 20 single, with “Boyfriend” (Sony) starting at #14, thanks in part to her success on TikTok.
