ROOTS PICNIC RETURNS

Roots Picnic returns to Philadelphia 6/4-5, the first time it’s being held IRL since 2019. Mary J. Blige with The Roots, Summer Walker, Wizkid, Kirk Franklin and Jazmine Sullivan top the bill.

The Roots and Live Nation Urban will take over The Mann at Fairmount Park in Philly for two days of music, art and culture.

Said Live Nation Urban President Shawn Gee, who manages The Roots and co-founded Roots Picnic, “This year, Black Thought, Questlove and I attempted to curate a lineup that broke through the genre barriers that often separate us in Black culture; to be able to book Mickey Guyton, Kirk Franklin, G Herbo, Wizkid, Wallo & Gillie and Mary J. Blige on the same lineup was a dream come true.”

The bill also includes jazz musicians Kamasi Washington and Robert Glasper and legendary MC Rakim.

Roots Picnic will again feature its Podcast Stage, which will present live podcasts of Million Dollaz Worth of Game, Questlove Supreme and others.

The fan-club presale has begun; the general on-sale starts Friday. YouTube will stream the festival live on The Roots’ official channel.
