Lion Forge Animation studio has made a deal with the Tuff Gong Collective to develop and produce an animated series based on the picture book Marley and the Family Band, by Bob Marley’s daughter Cedella Marley.
Universal Music Group’s Polygram Entertainment is co-producing the series with David Steward II’s Lion Forge and Tuff Gong. Random House Children’s Books published Marley and the Family Band on 2/1.
“Tuff Gong Collective was formed to be a creative platform to introduce my father’s art and music to new generations, and we’re thrilled to work with Lion Forge and Polygram to bring Marley and the Family Band to life through this new animation series,” said Cedella Marley. “This series is meant to reach and inspire creativity and community and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with the world.”
Lion Forge Animation Executive Creative Director Saxton Moore will direct. Steward and Jimmy Thomas are executive producing for Lion Forge, which is represented by Activist Artists Management.
