The Recording Academy and Clive Davis have announced that the Pre-Grammy Gala will not take place this year. The move to Las Vegas complicated the logistics of the event, notably with respect to venue.
“Due to the logistical obstacles caused by the ongoing pandemic," reads a statement from Davis and the Academy, "including the unavailability of an appropriate venue, we have decided to postpone the 2022 Pre-Grammy Gala. We will resume the celebration next year, when we will host an incredible evening in our unique and glittering way. As previously announced, other Grammy week activities will be held in Las Vegas, and the 64th Annual Grammy Awards will continue its tradition as Music’s Biggest Night on April 3 from the MGM Garden Arena.”
As for the MusiCares Person of the Year gala honoring Joni Mitchell, it is scheduled for 4/1 in Las Vegas. No venue has been announced. Will they pave paradise and put up a parking lot? Watch this space for updates.
