ROCK HALL GOES BIG ON FIRST-TIMERS

Eminem makes it onto the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ballot in his first year of eligibility, while seven others are under consideration for the first time, Beck, Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie among them.

The other first-timers are Duran Duran, Carly Simon and A Tribe Called Quest.

Acts returning from the 2021 ballot are Kate Bush, Devo, Rage Against the Machine, New York Dolls and first-timers Fela Kuti and Dionne Warwick.

Pat Benatar returns to the ballot after a year’s absence, while Eurythmics, Judas Priest and the MC5 return after having been passed over in 2018.

To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

“This year’s ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each of whom has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture,” said John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “Their music not only moved generations but also influenced the sound of countless artists who followed.”

Inductees will be announced in May. The induction ceremony will take place this fall. Date and venue are TBD.
