Crispin Hunt—a multiplatinum producer/songwriter who's written for the likes of Florence + the Machine, Jake Bugg, Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding and Rod Stewart—is stepping down as chair of songwriter and producer organization The Ivors Academy after five years in the role.
He will continue to be actively involved in the Academy as a board director. A new chair will be elected and announced shortly.
“It's high time to let the future lead the future—bed-hogging is not my style,” said Hunt. “As I turn to new projects, I reiterate my unflinching commitment to delivering the Academy's mission and, as a member of the Performing Right Society Council, to supporting the PRS's outstanding team to be as innovative, efficient and influential as possible. I want to thank our Academy members, our Academy team and everyone I have worked with as chair over the past five years. I am humbled by your support and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside you.” PRS for Music is a sponsor of The Ivor Novello Awards, aka The Ivors.
During his tenure with The Ivors Academy, Hunt led campaigns for music-creator rights in the U.K. and Europe, launched a new brand (the Ivors Academy was previously called the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors/BASCA), revamped its charitable trust and diversified its board.
