Ultra Records has tapped David Waxman as president of the label. The NYC-based exec, who’s spent the last two decades running A&R for Ultra, has worked with such influential acts as Armin van Buuren, Benny Benassi, Black Coffee, Carnage, Deadmau5, Kaskade, Steve Aoki, Pitbull and Tiesto, to name but a few. In his new post, he’ll add oversight of the day-to-day global operations of the company to his ongoing duty of discovering and developing new artists and projects. He will coordinate with Sony Music leadership on new releases, catalog and the weekly Zoom dance party.
A true veteran of the electronic-music world, Waxman began his career as a NYC club promoter and venue manager before becoming an influential DJ. His six-hour-plus sets are considered legendary in the EDM space, with some attendees of these long-ago nights still experiencing hangovers. Waxman served as a writer/reporter for Mixmag prior to the launch of his A&R career.
If anyone from HITS calls, we presume he will turn up his latest trance mix to ear-splitting levels to drown us out.
