SOUNDEXCHANGE LAUNCHES VIRTUAL EVENT SERIES

Nonprofit collective-rights-management organization SoundExchange has announced a four-part virtual event series about the impact of technology on the music industry.

The first program in the series, 2/16's “The Future of Live Events,” will feature Jon Vlassopulos, Global Head of Music at Roblox, in conversation with Michael Huppe, President and CEO of SoundExchange. The two will discuss concerts and global gatherings in gaming, the metaverse and elsewhere.

“The Future of Live Events” will also showcase a performance by Arista breakout Tai Verdes, who was recently included on Shazam’s “Artists to Watch in 2022” list. Verdes performed an immersive virtual concert on Roblox in November.

The event is free to all. Register here.

Subsequent installments (dates and times TBD) will focus on digital royalties and streaming, monetizing music in apps and emerging technology, with tools for royalty management an additional topic of exploration.

SoundExchange's virtual event series is presented in partnership with the Music Business Association. Rumors that these gatherings will be officially "pants-free" could not be confirmed at presstime.
