CHART FINAL: THE DAWN OF A NEW #1

XO/Republic’s The Weeknd scores the first HITS Top 50 #1 debut of 2022 with Dawn FM. The fifth studio album from the Canadian megastar opens with 154k, his biggest week since After Hours bowed in March 2020. Validating the hitmaker’s grasp on the current pop landscape, his greatest hits collection, The Highlights, rises to #7, giving Monte and Avery Lipman’s Republic five titles in the Top 10 as mainstays Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift and Drake continue to hold court.

Gunna follows close behind at #2 with DS4EVER, which features hip-hop A-listers Drake, Lil Baby, 21 Savage and more.

Disney’s Encanto soundtrack keeps growing following its chart-topping week, sliding to #3 but increasing 40% in units to 98k. Lead tracks “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” and “Surface Pressure” are among the week’s most-streamed songs.

Streeting this week are projects by Dualtone’s The Lumineers, Tan Cressida/Warner’s Earl Sweatshirt, Capitol's Elvis Costello and Young Money/Republic’s Lil Wayne.

Now, if you'll excuse us, we'll be taking a little alone time for the 180th week in a row. See the full chart here.
