The Weeknd could score his third U.K. #1 album this week. Adele and Gayle are locked in a battle for the top spot on the singles chart.
The Weeknd’s Dawn FM (Island) is currently #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums midweek chart, and he has three tracks in today’s singles Top 20: “Sacrifice” at #6, “Take My Breath” at #7 and the Swedish House Mafia collaboration “How Do I Make You Love Me?” at #15.
David Bowie, who would have turned 75 on 1/8, is eyeing a #2 album debut with his posthumous Toy (Toy Box) (Parlophone), a physical release of his scrapped 2000 set of the same name. He could also land two other entries in this week’s Top 40: Hunky Dory re-enters at #8 following a new picture-disk release celebrating its 50th anniversary and his greatest-hits collection Legacy is up to #17 at the halfway point.
Gunna is on track for his first U.K. Top 10, with DS4Ever (300 Entertainment) currently at #5, while Twin Atlantic’s Transparency (Believe) could debut at #10.
On the U.K.’s Official Singles midweek chart, fewer than 1k in sales currently separates Gayle’s “Abcdefu” (Atlantic), which is #1 today, and Adele’s “Easy on Me” (Columbia), at #2.
Former American Idol contestant Lauren Spencer-Smith has risen 87 places to #3 with her self-released breakup anthem “Fingers Crossed,” powered by traction on TikTok and social media.
Finally, Lost Frequencies and Calum Scott’s “Where Are You Now?” (Sony) looks set to vault four places to a new peak of #19.
