JONI MITCHELL SPARKS HEARTFELT TRIBUTES AT KENNEDY CENTER HONORS

The legendary Joni Mitchell was praised in speeches and celebrated in song during the Kennedy Center Honors special that aired on CBS on 12/22 (it's now available for streaming via Paramount+). President Joe Biden hailed her at the D.C. event, noting, "Millions of people listen to her songs and feel they were written just for them."

Among the performers assaying compositions from Mitchell's incomparable catalog were Brittany Howard and Herbie Hancock ("Both Sides Now"), Norah Jones ("Help Me") and Ellie Goulding ("Big Yellow Taxi"). Check out some clips below.

Mitchell subsequently described the event as "a peak experience." She has plenty more to look forward to in the next few weeks, though, as she'll be feted as MusiCares' Person of the Year and has been nominated for a Grammy in the Best Historical Album category for the Reprise/Rhino set Archives Vol. 1: The Early Years (1963-1967).
