THA CARTER 85

The career of Ron Carter, who has been setting the gold standard for jazz bassists for more than six decades, will be celebrated at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium on 5/10, just days after his 85th birthday.

The most recorded bassist in history—he’s played on more than 2,200 sessions—will lead three groups at his one-night-only 85th birthday celebration: a trio, quartet and nonet.

Stanley Clarke and Buster Williams are already confirmed as guests of the Tzedakah 4 All-produced concert, with more talent to be announced. NBC's Lester Holt will serve as emcee.

A member of Miles Davis’ mid-60s quintet, Carter has performed with Eric Dolphy, Herbie Hancock, A Tribe Called Quest, Wayne Shorter, Paul Simon and countless others.
