Live music's return is evidenced by a diverse selection of offerings, from a festival of current chart-toppers to heritage-rock treks and accordion-spiced spoofing.
Post Malone, Fall Out Boy, Halsey, Doja Cat, Tame Impala and Megan Thee Stallion are among those tapped to headline the return of Hangout Fest in Gulf Shores, Ala., 5/20-22. The event was canceled the last two years due to the pandemic. Others expected to perform include Kane Brown, Zedd, Maren Morris, ILLENIUM, Leon Bridges, Jack Harlow, Phoebe Bridgers, Louis the Child and many others.
The one and only “Weird Al" Yankovic is prepping a 133-date run from April to October. The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent Ill-Advised Vanity Tour kicks off on 4/26 at the Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and travels throughout North America, concluding at Carnegie Hall on 10/29. Unlike tours of the past, this one will feature Yankovic’s non-parody material. Comic Emo Phillips will serve as support.
Goth rockers The Cure will kick off a 44-date European arena tour through 22 countries, beginning 10/6 in Riga, Latvia, and finishing up 12/11 at London's SSE Arena Wembley. The tour will include seven stops in Germany, six in the U.K., six in France and three in Italy.
Styx and REO Speedwagon team up once again for a summer co-headlining jaunt, beginning 5/31 in Grand Rapids, Mich., and proceeding through 8/21 at the Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, N.Y. Loverboy will be on hand to open the shows. The Live Nation-produced Live & UnZoomed tour will make 35 stops during its 2022 run.
Eddie Vedder will be touring his new band, The Earthlings, in February. The Pearl Jam lead vocalist’s outfit features Chad Smith, Josh Klinghoffer, Chris Chaney, Glen Hansard and Andrew Watt. The tour starts with two nights at the Beacon Theatre in New York, 2/3-4, and concludes with two shows at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall, 2/21-22. The Earthlings will play Greater Los Angeles on 2/17 at the SoFi-adjacent YouTube Theater in Inglewood.
Jack Johnson's 30-date summer tour, meanwhile, kicks off 6/21 at Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford and includes stops at Jones Beach Theater on 6/22 and the Hollywood Bowl on 10/1. Tickets for the Live Nation tour go on sale Friday.
