The longlist for BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2022 has been revealed; on it are 10 new acts tipped for success, including Lola Young, Central Cee and PinkPantheress.
Universal U.K. counts three acts on the list: Island-signed Y.O.U.N.G and Yard Act, plus Polydor's Baby Queen.
Sony has Mimi Webb (Epic) and Tems (Since ’93/RCA). Warner also counts two, with PinkPantheress (Parlophone) and Priya Ragu (Warner Records U.K.).
There are three independent acts on the list: rapper Central Cee (who releases via ADA), ENNY (FAMM) and Wet Leg (Domino).
The Top 5 countdown will start on BBC Radio 1 on 1/2, with the winner revealed on 1/6. Chris Price, Head of Music for Radio 1, praised the list for being a “diverse representation of genres” and indicative of “a great year for British and female artists.”
BBC Radio 1 Sound of 2022 longlist entries were selected by a panel of more than 130 industry experts and artists, including Elton John, Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, Jade Thirlwall and Jorja Smith. Last year's winner was Warner act Pa Salieu
