REPUBLIC UPS GOLDSTEIN, ROPPO TO CO-PRESIDENTS

Republic has upped veteran execs Wendy Goldstein and Jim Roppo to Co-Presidents, announced Co-Founder/bros Monte Lipman and Avery Lipman.

L.A.-based Goldstein has been President, West Coast Creative, since 2019 and has served at the company since coming aboard as an A&R consultant in 2009. Roppo, who became the label’s EVP/GM in 2018, is based in the NYC office. He joined the company in 2012 and has served at UMG for 24 years. The two very much enjoy not dealing with us and hope that their new positions will afford them even more space from our calls, texts, pop-ins and hand-scrawled mash notes.

What’s that? You want quotes? Well, here they are.

Monte praised the pair as “the ultimate dynamic duo,” adding, “Their leadership spearheading groundbreaking releases and historic campaigns has captured the imagination of our industry while making a tremendous impact on popular culture. I’m thrilled to make this announcement as we embark on the next chapter of Republic Records.”

“We can always rely on Roppo and Wendy to not only exceed expectations but shatter them entirely,” noted Avery. “They’ve been integral to our success up to this point and will be even more crucial to the evolution of our company.”

“I’ve been very lucky to work with Monte, Avery and Republic for over two decades now,” reads a statement from Goldstein. “To say it’s been an unbelievable ride is an understatement! They’ve shown me the utmost support and confidence at every turn and continue to inspire me. I’m looking forward to this amazing new opportunity alongside my good friend Roppo as we usher in Republic’s next era.”

“There’s no company like Republic,” said Roppo. “Monte and Avery empower everyone around them to excel at an unparalleled level. The last 10 years have been unforgettable, and I’m thankful for their continued trust and belief as I join my incredible Co-President, the one and only Wendy Goldstein, in this new role.”

Prior to her tenure at Republic, Goldstein flexed her A&R chops at East West Records, Geffen Records, MCA Records and Capitol/ Priority Records. Roppo, who previously spent 13 years at Island Def Jam Music Group, kicked off his career at Aron’s Records at the dawn of the CD era.

Further big developments at the label are promised. For now, the aforementioned execs will converge for a brief Chumbawamba dance party before basting their respective turkeys.
