ADELE'S MAGICAL NIGHT

With her hotly anticipated fourth studio album, 30 (Columbia), due in five days, Adele commanded CBS, Los Angeles' Griffith Observatory, Twitter, iTunes and more on Sunday evening with her star-studded special, One Night Only.

The diva opened the concert with "Hello," reintroducing herself to the world with luminaries like Oprah Winfrey, Seth Rogen, Ellen DeGeneres, Drake, Lizzo, Selena Gomez, Dwayne Wade, James Corden and Melissa McCarthy in attendance.

As the sun set on the 1935 L.A. landmark, Adele followed up with the first public performance of her current single, "Easy on Me," which returned to #1 on iTunes shortly thereafter.

The performance was intertwined with an interview with Winfrey at the latter's Montecito estate, which saw Adele dish on her life since wrapping the promotional cycle for previous album 25 in 2017. During the period leading to the creation of 30, she contended with an "embarrassing" divorce—which served as inspiration for the new album—began raising her son, Angelo, in a co-parenting arrangement, drank too much, committed to working out (including dead-lifting 160 lbs.), lost 100 lbs. and other goings-on.

Even before the West Coast feed of the special commenced, "Adele" was the #1 trending topic on Twitter.

Backed by a full band, complete with string section, Adele performed favorites "Make You Feel My Love" (#9 at iTunes), "When We Were Young" (#20) and "Someone Like You" (#21), along with new tracks "Hold On" and "Love Is a Game."
