PEACE THROUGH MUSIC: A GLOBAL EVENT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Playing for Change and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have partnered to produce Peace Through Music: A Global Event for the Environment. The virtual fundraiser will call for action to effect environmental sustainability. It kicks off 12/15 at 6pm PT via Playing for Change’s YouTube channel.

More than 200 artists from 35+ countries will appear during the event alongside world leaders and influencers. Among those performing are Black Pumas, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Sara Bareilles, Slash and The Lumineers, with others to be announced. Special guests will include Robbie Robertson, Sir David Attenborough and UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem.

All net proceeds will go to organizations facilitating environmental justice, including Conservation International, American Rivers, World Wildlife Fund, REVERB and the Playing for Change Foundation. A portion of funds will advance educational programs.

"During this important time in human history, we are honored to continue our partnership with the United Nations for our 2021 Peace Through Music global event for the environment,” said Playing for Change Co-Founder Mark Johnson.

“We know we must work together to achieve real change, and music has the power to unite, energize and inspire us as we confront these challenges together and work towards a better future,” added Kanem.

This year’s event—presented by Coring Gorilla Glass—follows 2020’s Peace Through Music: A Global Event for Social Justice, which amassed 4m+ views and raised more than $1m for charity partners.
