GIRLS WANTED: HYBE, UMG HAVE A K-POP PLAN

The first project between K-pop powerhouse HYBE and Universal Music Group is a search for a girl group created via the traditional Korean method of individual auditions.

It’s the first time a U.S.-based girl group will be created based on the world-renowned K-pop training and development system—a full production that combines music, performance, fashion, music videos and communication with fans. Preparation will take place in Los Angeles, where the group will also debut.

HYBE and UMG will develop the group and provide music, performance and life-skills training, including in mental wellness and music-business and financial literacy.

The new group’s music will be released on the HYBE/Geffen JV label.

HYBE/UMG are looking for females between the ages of 15 and 19 (16 to 19 for EU residents) to submit a video of at least one minute in length or a music file showcasing their performance as well as upper-body and full-body frontal photos. Videos will be accepted through 11/28.
