Multiple sources confirm that one of the three recently appointed co-heads of WME’s music department has left the building. Nashville-based Scott Clayton arrived five years ago from CAA with a group of clients that included John Mayer, Zac Brown, Kings of Leon and My Morning Jacket and became co-head with Kirk Sommer and Lucy Dickins in 2020. We previously reported that he had parted ways with some of the aforementioned artists; updated info says this was incorrect. We apologize to Mr. Clayton, his clients and the music business to which we are a 35-year disgrace.
"We appreciate all of Scott's contributions to the agency over the past four years and wish him all the best," reads a quote furnished to HITS by a WME rep.
Where might Clayton be headed, and what could the next installment of this developing story hold for the super-agency after this latest setback in its music department? Stay tuned.
