Goldenvoice will be operating the Empire Polo Club more than three weekends in the spring each year; the Coachella/Stagecoach promoter is taking over year-round operational control of the site.
The new pact expands Goldenvoice’s previous agreement and provides it oversight of the Empire Grand Oasis, a special-event property in Thermal. The new business arrangement allows for greater flexibility for programming and scheduling, as well as opening both the Empire Polo Club and Grand Oasis properties up to a broader spectrum of special events, sporting events and private functions.
The new long-term lease not only allows the festivals to continue on the grounds but will “allow Goldenvoice to expand its vast catalog of musical acts on both of Empire’s properties,” said Empire Polo Club owners the Haagen Family in a joint statement.
“It is a privilege to now take over the operations of the venue and we look forward to continuing to build upon the special history that has been established there. It’s immeasurable how much we’ve learned from Al Haagen,” said Paul Tollett, President, Goldenvoice. “And yes, this is the deal I was texting about while seated behind home plate at the Dodger playoff games."
