ASCAP’s Women Behind the Music: Homecoming Edition is going virtual this year as part of the 2021 ASCAP Experience. Taking place on 10/27 at 3pm ET/12pm PT, the event is also part of ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Homecoming SZN, a week of virtual events coinciding with HBCUs' homecoming festivities.
This year’s honorees include Columbia EVP/Head of Urban Music Phylicia Fant, Alicia Ferriabough Taylor, Esq., Associate at the Law Offices of Robert A. Celestin, and Motown Records VP of Marketing/Co-Founder of #TheShowMustBePaused Jamila Thomas, all of whom attended HBCUs.
Nicole George-Middleton, ASCAP’s SVP of Membership, will moderate a conversation during which honorees will discuss their rise in the industry and how attending an HBCU shaped them as people and professionals. Additional events during ASCAP’s Homecoming SZN week includes Who's on the Yard, 10/25-29, Creating Your Own Lane, 10/25, and Meet the Graduates, 10/29.
Previous Women Behind the Music events have honored Kandi Burruss, Kelly Rowland, Shari Bryant, Nicole Wyskoarko, Salt-N-Pepa, Jazmine Sullivan, Victoria Monét, Sheila E, Britney Davis and NOVA WAV.
