Spotify announced Friday afternoon that Columbia's Adele had broken its first-day streaming record with "Easy on Me." Now we see the numbers.
UPDATE: Spotify has confirmed Adele's record-breaking single-day numbers; "Easy on Me" officially earned 24m global streams—the most in Spotify history. It also broke the record for the most-streamed song in a single day in the U.K., with more than 3.2m streams.
Following are the numbers posted to www.spotifycharts.com Saturday morning.
On the global chart, "Easy on Me" opened with 19.7m its first full day (Friday, 10/15). It now claims the biggest single-day stream count (debut and non-debut) of any song on Spotify, topping Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which set the record on Christmas Eve 2020 with 19.2m streams.
The track was #1 globally at Spotify Monday morning and in three-quarters of the streaming service's markets including the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany and United Arab Emirates.
Adele's Friday U.S. Spot number ranks among the all-time top debuts, though "Easy on Me" (5.4m) didn't top Drake's blockbuster opening for Certified Lover Boy, which saw three tracks earn more than 5.4m streams in the U.S., or Olivia Rodrigo's stateside streaming peak for "drivers license": 6.1m streams, on 1/12.
Adele also broke the global record at Amazon Music on Friday. Speaking of global records, what's the record for most late-night Postmates meals? We've hit a new peak this year and have no plans to slow down.
