COLDPLAY FIELDS A GLOBAL TOUR

Coldplay will play stadiums across Latin America, the U.S. and Europe from March to September, with the stateside run of 11 shows transpiring 4/23 through 6/14.

Live Nation will produce the Music of the Spheres World Tour, named for the Coldplay album arriving Friday. The road show will stop at L.A.'s new SoFi Stadium on 4/26 and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on 6/4.

H.E.R. and London Grammar will support.

Tickets go on sale 10/22; a verified-fan presale will begin 10/20.

Said the Dave Holmes-managed act, “Playing live and finding connection with people is ultimately why we exist as a band. We’ve been planning this tour for years, and we’re super-excited to play songs from across our whole time together. At the same time, we’re very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis. So we’ve spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible and harness its potential to push things forward. We’re committed to doing everything we can and sharing what we learn. We’re really grateful for the help we’ve had so far.”

Coldplay plans to cut direct emissions by 50% compared to their most recent tour (2016-17); power the show entirely by renewable, super-low-emission energy; provide each venue with a sustainability rider requesting best environmental practices; ensure that all merchandise is sustainably and ethically sourced; offer free drinking water at every venue; and put 10% of all earnings into a fund for environmental and socially conscious causes, including ClientEarth, One Tree Planted and The Ocean Cleanup.

To celebrate the tour, the Empire State Building tonight in partnership with iHeartRadio will feature a new music-to-light show set to “My Universe,” the band's collab with BTS. The presentation, which can be seen here, starts at 8:55pm ET.
