U.K. CHARTS: THE SCRIPT SCORES ITS SIXTH #1

The Script heads straight to #1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart with Tales From the Script–Greatest Hits (Sony CMG). Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers” claims a fourth week at #1 on the singles chart.

The Irish rockers’ best-of lands at the top with 23k, 87% of which was physical sales. They join Arctic Monkeys, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Kings of Leon, Radiohead, Blur and Muse as bands with six #1 albums.

Right below The Script is The SpecialsProtest Songs 1924-2012 (Island), at #2; it’s the week’s biggest seller on vinyl. Queen drummer Roger Taylor posts his first solo U.K. Top 10 as his sixth record, Outsider (Virgin), debuts at #3.

Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga enter at #6 with their Cole Porter collection, Love for Sale (Universal). At #7 is Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack to the new James Bond film, No Time To Die (Decca); it’s the highest-charting Bond ST in the franchise’s history (thanks to Billie Eilish's title track).

Rapper Potter Payper’s Thanks for Waiting (0207), at #8, is his second U.K. Top 10 album and the most-streamed new entry of the week. The vinyl release of Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (EMI) pushes it to #9.

Elsewhere, Sugababes’ 20th anniversary re-release of their debut album, One Touch (London), hits #18, outperforming the #26 peak of the original. YesThe Quest (Insideoutmusic) is new at #20.

Sheeran’s “Shivers” (Atlantic) racked up another 6.7m streams in the U.K. over the past seven days, giving it a comfortable lead over Elton John & Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” (Mercury), which holds at #2 for a third week.

Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” (Polydor) rises three slots to a new high of #5, becoming the Oxford band’s first Top 5 hit.
