U.K. MIDWEEKS: SCRIPT PENCILS IN #1

The Script are eyeing their sixth U.K. #1 album, with the compilation Tales From the Script: Greatest Hits (Sony) taking the top slot at the midweek stage. At singles, Elton John & Dua Lipa are fighting it out with Ed Sheeran for #1.

The Irish rockers lead the seven new entries in the Top 10 in today’s Official Albums Chart update.

At #2 is The SpecialsProtest Songs 1924-2012 (Island), followed by a solo record from Queen drummer Roger Taylor, Outsider (Virgin). Hans Zimmer’s score for the new James Bond film, No Time To Die (Decca), is #4.

The vinyl release of Taylor Swift’s former chart-topper Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (EMI) pushes the set up to #5.

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s Love for Sale (Universal) debuts at #6; the 20th anniversary re-release of Sugababes’ debut album, One Touch (London), is #7; and the 22nd studio album from Yes, The Quest (Insideoutmusic), sits at #8.

Just outside the Top 10 is Neil Young’s archival release, Carnegie Hall 1970 (Warner), at #11 and Potter Payper’s Thanks for Waiting (0207) at #12.

At singles, Sheeran’s “Shivers” (Atlantic) is just 2.5k ahead of Elton & Dua’s “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” (Mercury) at midweek.

“Heat Waves” (Polydor) by Glass Animals is on course to reach new heights as it moves up three rungs to #5. Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever” (Polydor) is set to return to the Top 10 this Friday, up two places to #9.
