SOUR VS. DANGEROUS: THE RACE FOR THE YEAR'S #1 ALBUM

The two biggest albums of the year so far are separated by less than 380k. Olivia Rodrigo's SOUR (Geffen), currently in the runner-up spot, gains a little more ground each week on Morgan Wallen's chart-leading Dangerous: The Double Album (Big Loud/Republic).

Dangerous, released on 1/8, has racked up more than 2.6m in YTD activity; SOUR, issued four months later, has amassed more than 2.2m and is outpacing Dangerous by at least 10k week over week.

With 15 weeks remaining in the chart year, there's still plenty of time for either title to shore up a first-place finish. Then again, rumors are swirling that major new releases from several global superstars are just around the corner. Could there be an 11th-hour spoiler to this nearly yearlong race? Watch this space.
