PLAYING FOR CHANGE BOARDS "PEACE TRAIN"

Two years ago we were mesmerized by Playing for Change’s video of a performance of The Band’s “The Weight.” Today, it's returned with Yusuf/Cat Stevens and a globe-trotting rendition of “Peace Train.”

Keb’ Mo’, Baaba Maal and Rhiannon Giddens are among the more than 25 musicians from 12 countries in the clip, which also features a Mississippi choir, a percussion ensemble in Brazil, a string trio in upstate New York and musicians in Pakistan, Hawaii, India and elsewhere. Yusuf/Cat Stevens was filmed in Turkey.

The clip was released in honor of International Day of Peace, 9/21.

“We are privileged to be able to create a glimpse of unity through music,” said Yusuf/Cat Stevens. “However, if you want to make the Peace Train real, then you need two tracks: one track has to be justice, and the other must be well-being. Everybody should have access to these two things. Then the Peace Train can really get going.”
