TIME 100: BILLIE, DOLLY & OTHERS

Nine names from the music world have made it onto Time magazine’s 2021 100 Most Influential People list, among them Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X and Dolly Parton.

Eilish is the lone music figure to make it onto the Pioneers list. In her essay about Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion wrote about their first meeting at the 2021 Grammy ceremony. “She is a rare spirit who speaks from her heart with no pretenses. I knew I had found a kindred spirit that night. One who is strong but still learning and still growing. A woman who stands up for herself and advocates for women everywhere.

Lil Nas X makes it onto the Artists list, along with Kane Brown and Bad Bunny; Parton is an Icon, as is Britney Spears; and Verzuz creators Timbaland and Swizz Beatz join Benin singer Anjelique Kidjo on the Titans list.
