THE ZOMBIES TAKE OVER ABBEY ROAD

On 9/18, The Zombies will return to Abbey Road and Studio 2, where they made their 1968 classic Odessey & Oracle, to perform a career-spanning livestream concert.

This will be the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers' only show in 2021 and a “world tour in one night" as founding member Colin Blunstone quipped. Full, in-person live shows are scheduled for 2022.

Following the performance, a Q&A hosted by veteran rock scribe David Fricke will feature fan questions as well as queries from Paul Weller, Hayley Williams and HAIM.

The event will be broadcast by Veeps.com, the streaming platform founded by Joel and Benji Madden and now majority-owned by Live Nation.

The event also coincides with the start of Abbey Road’s 90th anniversary celebrations. Fun fact: The Zombies entered Studio 2 to record Odessey & Oracle directly after some band called The Beatles made a now-obscure record called Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Much use was made of a mandolin that John Lennon had left behind, perhaps because it was filled with weapons-grade cannabis.

The Zombies—singer Blunstone and keyboardist Rod Argent, with Steve Rodford (drums), Tom Toomey (guitar) and Søren Koch (bass)—have used the lockdown period to work on a new album, a follow-up to 2015’s Still Got That Hunger.

The stream airs live at 3pm ET/12pm PT and tickets are on sale here. Already got plans? Fear not, buyers will be able to stream the performance until 10/3.
